How To Apply for Financial Aid

These pages are designed to guide you through the financial aid process and offer helpful insights to make your application experience as smooth and successful as possible.

Six Steps to Apply for Aid

1. Complete the Financial Aid Application

To be considered for federal and state financial aid, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as early as October 1 for the upcoming fall semester. For priority consideration, aim to submit it by February 1. Be sure to include Georgia Southern’s school code: 001572.

2. Review your Student Aid Report (SAR)

About a week after submitting your FAFSA, you’ll receive your Student Aid Report. This summary helps you confirm that your application is accurate. If you listed Georgia Southern on your FAFSA, we’ll automatically get your info.

  • If everything looks good—save it for your records.
  • If corrections are needed, you can fix them online at studentaid.gov.

3. Watch for Emails from Georgia Southern

Within 3–4 weeks of your FAFSA being processed, we’ll email you through EAGLEGRAM with one of two things:

  • A notification of your financial aid award
    or
  • A request for additional documents to complete your file

If we need documents from you, submit them as soon as possible to avoid delays in your aid.

4. Review and Accept Your Financial Aid Offer

Your EAGLEGRAM will guide you to your WINGS account in MyGeorgiaSouthern to view your financial aid award.
